The Hague, July 2, 2012 (FH) – Libyan authorities on Monday released the four ICC staff members who were detained in Zintan, following their visit to Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi on June 7. They arrived in the Hague in the evening.

ICC President, Judge Sang-Hyun Song, welcomed the Libyan decision to release them in a press conference held in Zintan. “The ICC is grateful to the Libyan authorities for their agreement today to release the Court’s staff members so they can be reunited with their families,” he declared.

On June 22, Libya's general prosecutor had met ICC authorities in The Hague. “Information reported by the Libyan authorities on the visit’s circumstances will be fully investigated in accordance with the ICC procedures,” the ICC declared after the meeting.
