The Special Representative of Rwandan Government to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Alloys Mutabingwa, said that over 300 Rwandans in Diaspora and other invited guests are expected to attend the occasion to be held at the Naura Springs Hotel, in down town Arusha, and not very far from the UN Tribunal, trying key suspects of genocide.
"Everything is moving as planned for the event," he added. The theme of this year's commemoration is:" Let us keep alive the memory of genocide against Tutsi by fighting its revisionism and negationism''.
The occasion is also expected to be attended by the ICTR Prosecutor, Justice Hassan Jallow, and UN Court's Registrar, Adama Dieng, and the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Isidore Shirima, among others.
The commemoration is held at national in Kigali, where President Paul Kagame is expected to grace and give a key note address.
The "One-Dollar''campaign idea was mooted during the Diaspora conference last December in Kigali that aims at raising Rwf 1.5 billion for a hostel project to provide shelter, especially to young genocide survivors in schools and universities.
Accounts have been opened in Belgium, Japan, Ethiopia, Sweden, Canada, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and other countries.
The April-July slaughter, one of the worst human tragedy of the 21st century, claimed lives of about 800, 000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
