Father Nsengimana, who was on trial since June 2007, is accused of genocide and crimes against humanity committed in Nyanza, southern Rwanda. He has pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged that Nsengimana supervised the killings of ethnic Tutsis at the College, one of the most prestigious in Rwanda.
The prosecutor alleges that Nsengimana led a "death squad" made up of employees of the College. The lead counsel for the prosecution, Wallace Kapaya, has asked the Tribunal to hand down life imprisonment if convicted for the crimes.
Nsengimana is one of the four catholic priests indicted by the ICTR.
Athanase Seromba, a former Parish Priest in Nyange, in western Rwanda, had his 15 year sentence overturned by the Appeals Court to life jail earlier this year ; former Military Chaplain Emmanuel Rukundo was sentenced to 25-years imprisonment in February, whereas Wenceslas Munyeshyaka, a former Parish Priest of the Holy Family Church in Kigali, will be tried in France.
