Charles Bandora, aged 57, was arrested upon his arrival at Oslo International airport while traveling on a fake Malawian passport.
According to his lawyer Lars Moerk, the suspect is sought by Interpol for genocide and crimes against humanity.
A wealthy and influent businessman at the time of the genocide, Bandora did finance the training and arming of the extremist Interahamwe militia in Bugesera region (Eastern Rwanda), asserted Prosecutor office's spokesman Augustin Nkusi on Radio Rwanda.
"During the genocide, he took Interahamwe to Ruhuha church in his vehicle, then ordered them to massacre the Tutsis who had sought refuge there", Nkusi added.
"Had he not been there, the massacres would not have reached this extent", he concluded.
